The fourth annual Battle by the Brook Adventure Race (BBTB) (formerly S’More) will be held on September 25th, 2021 at Camp Shady Brook, in Deckers, CO. This is one of our favorite fundraisers. With your adventurous nature and philanthropist’s heart, registering for this event allows more kids to attend camp at YMCA Camp Shady Brook. Adventures for everyone!

Each team will race in a variety of endurance disciplines, including orienteering/navigation, cross-country running/hiking, mountain biking, paddling and other unique challenges for Adventure Racing. Athletes can look forward to a vendor area with interactive booths, live music, and an end-of-race cookout. Be prepared for an amazing day! This page is dedicated to the competitive 4 hour race. Directions

RACE ACTIVITIES

Racers will navigate the unmarked course by hiking/cross country running, mountain biking (dirt road/trail), and paddling (flat water).

TEAMS

Racers must form teams of 2-4 in order to participate.

REQUIRED GEAR

4 Hour BBTB Gear List:
  • Backpack
  • Water bottle & hydration pack
  • Mountain Bike
  • Mountain bike helmet (CPSC, ANSI, or SNELL certified)
  • Compass Bike tool kit (including bike pump) and at least one spare bike tube
  • Rain Jacket (recommended)
  • Running/Hiking Shoes
  • Whistle
  • Sufficient clothing for weather & weather changes
  • Beanie/Buff (recommended)
  • Wool or Fleece under-layer (recommended)
  • First Aid Kit (per team)
  • Compass (per team, 2 recommended)
  • Maps (provided, per team)
  • Map Case (recommended)
  • Passport (provided, per team)
  • Sunscreen (recommended)

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

We are taking COVID-19 seriously and want to ensure that all our race participants as well as our community, are safe. If necessary we will implement a plan and guidelines in order to keep all involved healthy. More information regarding this will be passed on as race day approaches.   • The race will begin at 8 a.m. and teams will be released every 5 minutes.

  • For experienced racers as well as beginners.
  • Timed event with overall finish time and included in results
  • Qualifier for RMAS award
  • Awards given to the top TEAM in each division (2 person male, 2 person female, 3/4 person male, 3/4 person female, 2 person coed, 3/4 person coed).
  • Each team member must have a mountain bike with gears to participate in this category and be experienced at riding their bike on trails.
  • All team members must stay together at all times during the race.

Cancellation Policy: We are unable to offer refunds on race registration fees.* However, we will happily transfer your entry to a future race.
*If we end up having to postpone or cancel the 2021 race due to COVID, all registered racers will receive a full refund.
