Quarry Mountain Quest is a fun and fast 6-hour race that takes place on the side of a mountain near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Over 80% of the race is on single track trails. The north side of the course requires navigating through scrub oak and the south side of the course is more open woods – but there are places where trees are down off trail. This race is a run/bike event with navigation.

All of this event is conducted on Public Lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

RACE UPDATES

Expect communications for this race to start a few months before race day, receiving the final communication about 1 week prior to race start.

This race is being permitted by the Bureau of Land Management and Routt County. We appreciate all the work they are doing to help us have a race at this location.

RACE LOCATION

This race will be held in the mountains overlooking Steamboat Springs, CO.

RACE ACTIVITIES

Racers will navigate the unmarked course by hiking/trekking and mountain biking (dirt road/trail).

TEAMS

Racers may be solo racers or form teams of 2 (open/co-ed) or 3-4 (open/co-ed) in order to participate.

If your team participates in 3 or more RMAS races, your team will be eligible to win the RMAS overall series prize. Review the rankings page for more information.

REQUIRED GEAR

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

This race does not have rental gear required.

LODGING

There are many places to stay in and around Steamboat Springs, including cabins, hotels, and campgrounds. The race start is west of Steamboat Springs and staying on the northwest side of the town is closest to the start, but the race is not far from Steamboat Springs.

RULES

Review the RACE RULES by clicking on the link. No GPS devices which provide your location are allowed. Additionally, no devices which track your distance on foot are allowed. Bike computers that track distance without GPS are allowed.

RACE FAQs

Where is the race start? The location of the race start is at Cow Creek Trailhead.

Where should I stay for the race? Steamboat Springs is a very popular tourist location in Colorado. There are many options for lodging. We do not provide a list of lodging options.

When do I receive the maps for the race? You will receive the maps about 1 hour prior to race start on race day. You have 1 hour to review the maps and determine your route.

Will there be food and water provided? The transition areas will have food and water, but do not rely on the food at the transition areas to be your only source of food. Please bring your own food. There will be snacks at the end of the race while we wait for the awards ceremony to begin.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellation Policy: Racers may be reimbursed for their race registration up to 60 days prior to the race. Between 60 and 30 days, the racers may receive half the3ir registration fee refunded. After 30 days, the registration cannot be refunded but registration may be rolled over to a race the following year.

Please contact the race director if you must cancel for further information.

*If the race must be cancelled due to fire, the racers will receive as much of a refund as possible.
